Abstract This study aims to enhance the operation economy of Egyptian Natural Gas Networks. Our objective is to get the maximum revenue gained through the optimal gas distribution between industrial sectors. A computer program is developed using Matlab for simulating a steady-state gas grid. The obtained gas grid analysis data are compared and verified with SYNERGI software [DNV, 2020]. The comparison shows that the max deviation in pressure analysis is only 1.615593266 % and only 0.008675911 % in the flow analysis. The developed program used Matlab Genetic Algorithm approach for optimizing and solving the obtained nonlinear problem. All Required demands, sources capacities and pressure limitations are constraints of the objective function. The results show the higher profit which can be gained by optimizing Egyptian gas grid. It is found also that the gained profit affected by several operation parameters such as source gas price and pressure values of gas. Also at this study, gas tariff methodologies were evaluated to obtain a fair and suitable one for the Egyptian natural gas grid (NGG) including distance-based, entry-exit, point-to-point, and volume-based tariffs. Volume-based tariff was found to be the most suitable one to the engineering and economic characteristics of the Egyptian NGG regarding fairness and applicability. In addition, the suggested tariff was found not to affect the obtained economic benefits compared to the postage stamp tariff. |
