Abstract The petroleum industry spends millions of dollars every year to avoid the formation of gas hydrates. Gas hydrates cause problems by plugging transmission lines and damaging equipment. The present work studies the hydrate formation in many aspects including theoretical and experimental study of hydrate formation prediction. Two methods had been used to predict hydrate formation; the first one by using HYSYS simulation software and the second was by PVT analysis. The effects of gas gravity, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, and hydrate types on hydrate formation profile were also studied using HYSYS. Three solutions were studied to prevent hydrate formation in transportation pipeline; A) thermal insulation, B) chemical injection, and c) Direct electrical heating. |
