Abstract

Femoral neck fractures in younger adults usually result from high-energy trauma. These high-energy injuries may involve a vertical fracture pattern and high grade of displacement resulting in a high shear load at the fracture site, and this may be associated with high internal fixation failure rates. There is no clear evidence of superiority of one implant for other, since each device has its own complications. Non-union and femoral head avascular necrosis are major complications that requires numerous solutions .Therefore , carefully selecting the correct operation to provide the best outcome while avoiding the need for a second operation is the gold standard of care. In this study, Aim was to evaluate efficacy and safety of using locked plate neck femur in femoral neck fracture fixation. This was a prospective study include 16 patients, conducted in Mansoura Emergency Hospital in the period between November 2016 to October 2019, All patients with post traumatic fracture neck femur within age group (20-50 Yrs.) with median age 26.5 years. 62.5% of patients were in the age group of 18-30 years, 18.8% of them the age group of 31-40 years and 18.8% were between 41-50 years. The follow up evaluation across one year and half included questioning the patient about the pain during activity and rest, and about ability to walk and stand, determining the range of motion of hip joint using Harris Hip Scoring System.
