Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is the performance analysis of stand-alone photovoltaic (PV) system operation with different loads for better performance as follows: The first part of the thesis describes the PV modeling by considering two-diode model with eight-parameter. While the second part of the thesis presents PV array which is connected with fluctuated DC resistive load. In this part of thesis, the effect of the DC link capacitance on stand-alone photovoltaic system operation with fluctuated DC resistive load have been investigated under different loads variations with ±10% and ±20% and under constant of solar irradiation and ambient temperature. This thesis also presents two different stand-alone PV systems and water pumping based on an induction motor to extract maximum power from a PV array. The first system, matching the on-site induction-motor pumping loads with the given PV power for the most optimal operation using dynamic error driven PI controllers. The second system based on perturb and observe (P&O) algorithm and dynamic error driven PI controllers for the purpose of maximum power point tracker. Finally, this thesis presents an experimental work for performance analysis of stand-alone PV system with DC resistive load, AC resistive load and both Permanent magnet DC motor and single phase induction motor. Also presents a case study for performance analysis of PV pumping system which carried out based on three-phase induction motor drives a centrifugal pump at Elminia site- Egypt.
