Abstract Ionic liquids (ILs) are salts in the liquid state. In some contexts, the term has been restricted to salts whose melting point below some arbitrary temperature, such as 100 °C . Salts that are liquid at or below room temperature (i.e. 25 ºC) are known as room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs). Moreover, they are salts of organic cations and organic/ inorganic anions, and are being widely investigated as replacements for volatile organic solvents in industrial and laboratory processes because they are thought to be ”environmentally friendly”. Since ionic liquids-based Schiff bases have important and different applications in biological and analytical fields. This thesis is aimed to: • Synthesis of new Schiff base ionic systems and their transition metal complexes. • characterization of Schiff bases and their complexes with different analytical technique. • Analytical applications: pH-metric titrations and spectrophotometric determination of Fe(III) ion by the Schiff bases ionic liquids applied in this study. |
