Abstract

The present dissertation deals with the synthesis of new series of admantane derivatives. Successful synthesis and characterization of 18 adamantane derivatives were performed. These new derivatives were tested for antitumor and antibacterial activities. The content is divided into 6 parts, in addition to the Arabic summary. Part 1 The introduction: this part includes different examples from recent literature describing different pharmacological activities of Adamantane derivatives including but not limited to antiviral, anticancer, and bacterial and antiprotozoal activities. Part 2 The research objectives: discusses the major aims that direct the theoretical and practical work. Part 3 The theoretical discussion of the experimental work: illustrates the different possible conditions for the preparation of the desired compounds. It also demonstrates the results of the spectral analysis to characterize the newly synthesized compounds . Furthermore, it reports the physical properties of these compounds. Part 4 The experimental work: includes the synthetic procedures of the designed compounds, and the adopted procedures of spectral analysis and X-ray crystallography. Part5 Biological activity: This part includes in vitro assessment of antibacterial and anticancer activities of the newly synthesized compounds. Part 5 The references: includes the list of references cited in this thesis, and they are arranged according to their appearance in the thesis. There are 332 references covering the period from 1957 to 2020.
