Abstract

Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is an expanding osteolytic cystic lesion formed of blood filled spaces of different sizes set apart by connective tissue septae. The true etiology is still debatable. Several methods of treatment in the literature vary widely and treatment of an ABC remains highly controversial. The management of ABC depends on the age of the patient, its location, the vascularity and the size of the lesio.
The aim of the work was to assess the results of treatment of primary aneurysmal bone cyst by thorough curettage, hydrogen peroxide lavage and non-vascularized strut fibular graft was used.
Twenty cases with aneurysmal bone cysts constituted the material of this study; there were 16 males (80%) and 4 females (20%).the mean age of the cases at the time of operation was 11.35 years; the youngest was 9 years while the eldest was 14 years old.
Retrospectively, all the patients were assessed by history taking, clinical examinations and appropriate radiological assessment. They had plain radiographs of the affected site with different views in addition to CT and MRI in some cases.
The degree of healing, bone consolidation and complications were assessed and all patients were evaluated using MSTS upper limb score. The data were gained from analysis of the information provided from the patients objectively, subjectively and radiologically then they were processed and tabulated. The mean score of MSTS was 91.55%. And that’s why we claim better results compared to pr
