Abstract The drug neostigmine is popularly used in anesthetic practice as reversal antagonist for muscle relaxants. Moreover, another use as analgesic appears to be effective & readily used by some. The ability of the drug to produce analgesia & sedation as well as a potential direct effect of the drug on the central nervous system give the drug an opportunity to be investigated & searched for its effect in preventing & controlling post dural puncture headache (PDPH) in obstetric population after spinal anesthesia for lower segment cesarean section. This may cause the drug to be one of the potential new drug therapies for such distressing condition, especially with its different mechanism of action that differs from other drugs. |
