Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of adsorbent utility like silica gel and cellulose for dye removal in aqueous solutions by preparation of the aqueous solutions which has the required dye for removal (Carmoisine, Methylene Blue, Navy Blue. and Maxilone Red GRL), and addition of the adsorbents separately with the continuous stirring. The adsorbent optimization of removal was measured by UV-Vis spectroscopy through checked durations.
There’re several factors were studied, which controls the adsorption process
1- pH.
2- Adsorbent concentrations.
3- Salinity degree.
4- The dye initial concentration.
5- Experiment duration.
The theoretical calculations were applied through Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms for all 4 dyes and for the both adsorbents (silica gel and cellulose) separately. Eventually, here’re the estimated results:
1- Removal efficiency increases with adsorbent dose and experiment duration.
2- Removal efficiency decreases with salinity degree increment, in spite of increasing the adsorbent doses
3- pH increasing (from 4 to 8) lead to increase the removal efficiency for both adsorbents.
4- There’s a suitable fitting between resulted data and theoretical calculations (Langmuir, and Freundlich) isotherms for the both adsorbents.
