Abstract

Aging and dementia are significant social problems that governments
across the globe face. Active aging has provided many incentives for businesses and organisations to build programs and travel options for individuals who are still living longer and willing to participate in later- life tourism (Darcy & Dickson, 2009; Glover & Prideaux, 2009; Boudiny, 2013; Mckercher & Darcy, 2018). Conversely, an increasingly complicated medical issues impacting travel experiences influence a
percentage of the elderly population, and one of such issues is dementia.
Dementia is a common term u;~d to denote a wide range of health problems encountered by persons with the disease in various ways, which gradually affect cognitive capabilities, comprehension, actions and the ability to perform many daily tasks. Dementia is a brain disorder, not a normal consequence of aging, and there are many manifestations, the most
widespread being Alzheimer’s disease, that is responsible for two-thirds to
three-quarters of cases.
