Abstract The complications of pancreatitis could be broadly divided into vascular complications and nonvascular complications. The non-vascular complications include the peri-pancreation collections and pseudo cysts.Over the past two decades the role of interventional radiology has broadened in the management of different diseases, either as a definitive curative intervention or as a pre-operative procedure. In our study 20 patients presented by complications sequel to pancreatitis such as: Large pancreatic psoducyst (six patients)<Varieties of peripancreatic fluid collections (12 patients) Splenic artery pseudoaneurysm (two patients) The majority of our interventions were ultrasound guided; 15 out of 20 patients managed by ultrasound guided drainage and pig tail catheter insertion (75% of our cases). Two patients needed the help of fluoroscopic guided technique along (10%). One case was done CT guided. No major complications was encountered in our study with only minor post procedure self-resolving complications like pain at the puncture site and small inguinal haematoma. Interventional radiology procedures proved to be effective with technical and clinical success of the procedures with minimally invasive approach and minor complications. |
