Abstract

The choice of the oncoplastic surgical technique is based on the location of the tumor, size of the breast and distance of the tumor from the nipple-areola complex. That’s why, the decision is tailored for every case.
I our study, we compared locoregional recurrence rate of stage 1, 2 breast cancer after WLE Vs Oncoplastic breast surgery techniques, We found that there is no significant difference between the two groups as regards the age of the patients, their family history, comorbidities, the size of the tumor and no statistical difference regarding recurrence of breast cancer between the two groups. However, should be assessed for longer period.
On the other hand, There is a high correlation between the closest free margin and the technique of surgery used where 96% of cases underwent OBCS had the closest free margin of more than 2 mm in comparison to 24% of cases underwent WLE
Pt age, positive Family history, comorbidities, size of the tumor and grade of the tumor had no statistical significance in relation to short-term locoregional recurrence, but ER status was highly significant with locoregional recurrence, all of these cases were triple negative.
Our study showed significant relation between DM and post operative infection and cosmetic results, also showed a significant increase of lymphedema of the arm in OBCS group incomparison to WLE group.
