Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the most widespread gynecological malignancies in women worldwide. So awareness about cervical cancer enables the woman to take or make informed decisions. The study aimed to assess women awareness of cervical cancer in Benha City. Research design: A descriptive research design was used to conduct the study. Setting: The study was being conducted at Obstetric Outpatient Clinic affiliated to Benha University Hospitals. Sample: Convenient sample of women age from 18 to 45 years and not diagnose with cervical cancer sample was used in this study was (200 women). Tool: Two tools were used to conduct the study 1) A structured interviewing questionnaire, concerning socio- demographic data for studied women, medical history, and women knowledge regarding cervical cancer 2) A modified likert scale to assess attitude of the studied women toward cervical cancer. Results: 69.0% of studied women had poor knowledge toward cervical cancer risk factors and screening. 71.5 % of the studied women had positive attitude about cervical cancer. Conclusion: there was high statistically significant relation between total knowledge score of the studied women and their age, place of resident, while there was positive relation between total attitude score and their occupation. Recommendations: Continuous health education programs for women to increase awareness about cervical cancer.
