Abstract

Background: HCV, and its long-term resultant consequences, is a major endemic medical health problem in Egypt. Recent epidemiological modelling studies conducted to assess the HCV disease burden have suggested 7.3% of the population with viremic HCV in 2013. Aim: To test for the reliability and validity of the CLDQ (Arabic version), to compare the health related quality of life in chronic HCV patients treated and untreated with the new DAAs. Subject: ????????????????. Results: ??????????. Conclusion: HCV virus has a negative impact on both physical and mental component of the quality of life, Awareness and management of the defect in the quality of life is still crucial in the DAAs era, as depression reduces antiviral adherence regardless of regimens, Modifiable factors like DM should be corrected in chronic HCV patients complaining of depression and fatigue, The disease specific questionnaires are a useful tool in assessing the HRQoL in various health problems, The health related quality of life improved in patients treated with direct acting antiviral drugs and achieving sustained virological response. Recommendations: Impairment in the quality of life is frequent in HCV chronic infection, so assessment of it is advised for all patients having chronic HCV, especially patients with high Fibroscan score and elevated ALT level to give the clinician the best intervention modality suitable for each patient and give us the ability to detect various complications especially extra hepatic complications e.g. depression.
