Abstract

The study is divided into five chapters. The first chapter starts with an introduction, statement of the problem, aim and objectives of the study, hyposeses of the study, methodology of the study, limitations of the study, definitions of terms, gap analysis, and organization of the study. This study aims to study the possibility of applying renewable energy on floating hotels. To achieve this aim, the following objectives are set:  Exploring the methods of electricity generation currently used in floating hotels  Identifying the (Strengths –Weaknesses – Opportunities - Threats) of applying renewable energy on floating hotels.  Analyzing the current and prospective status towards the possibility of applying renewable energy on floating hotels.  Realizing the adequacy of the infrastructure of floating hotels to apply renewable energy applications.  Determining the opportunities of investing in the use of renewable energy applications on floating hotels.  Illustrating the challenges of applying renewable energy applications in the floating hotels.  Evaluating the strengths - challenges - opportunities - responses - effectiveness in relation to renewable energy implementation from the managers’ point of view.  Realizing the level of guests’ awareness and interest in the shapes of solar cells in floating hotels.  Providing a proposed plan for applying renewable energy sources in terms of the required suppliers. The field study (Chapter Three) is conducted in order to investigate the study’s objectives. The field stud techniques were as follows :  Personal interviews with managers in Five-Four star floating hotels in Luxor and Aswan based on SWOT analysis.  Questionnaire forms distributed on the engineers and technics of maintenance and engineering department of floating hotels and senior management which represents the study sample.  Personal interview with the managers of renewables energy companies and experts in the field of renewable energy were conducted after the researcher finished the personal interviews with managers of floating hotel sample of the study, based on score model forms.  Also, the researcher depended on guest questioner’s forms to find the opinions of guests in the places of using renewable energy applications. Summary of the Results of the Perspective of the Managers of Floating Hotels. 1. The answers of the managers sample of the study towards the current methods, on which floating hotels depend on electricity generation, quantities and cost of biofuels used are as follow:  The floating hotels work with three engines to operate hotel machines, in addition to three power generators. Since the three motors used to generate power in floating hotels.  The floating hotels consume between 14,000 to 18,000 liters of biofuels per week for the duration of the trip. where the trip takes four days, going to Aswan and three days, from Aswan to Luxor.  The results also showed that the cost of biofuels used throughout the trip in a week is about 108,000 pounds, which is considered a high cost. While the cost per month at this rate reached about 432,000 pounds. And by calculating the annual cost is 5616000 pounds. Based on both the literature reviewed and the results of the field study, the recommendations in the following table were divided into three dimensions as follows. Using solar energy on floating hotels to reduce consumption, costs, and reduce negative impacts on the surrounding environment. Providing an innovative financial support mechanism that provides financial support to decision makers in floating hotels. Encouraging cooperation with developed countries in this field and benefiting from their expertise.
