Abstract In recent years, considerable research and development efforts have been devoted to improve the printing technology using emerging technologies such as inkjet technology for developing and producing innovative/durable and cheap textile products to provide textile-users with highest levels of comfort, protection, safety and aesthetics. The original work presented in this thesis is to develop a new eco- friendly inkjet ink for white resist printing for inkjet printing techfiology that can be used easily on viscose fabrics and can be used by any textile ink jet machine. For that chitosan was chosen and explored as a resisting agent because it is a functional biopolymer which can be safely used for textile wet processing. Chitosan is the deacetylated derivative of chitin. The efficiency of resisting agent was studied in comparison with standard unprinted illuminated fabrics. Results show an improvement in both antibacterial activity and dye blocking. This method can be suitable for eco-friendly resist printing on viscose fabrics. |
