Abstract
The Dystopian Aspects of Suzanne Collins’ Trilogy The Hunger Games In recent times there has been an increase in the production of dystopian literature. This study briefly examines the evolution of the dystopian literary genre by talking about one of its most known works up to the present. The Hunger Games trilogy, written by Suzanne Collins, explains some common elements of this type of fiction throughout contemporary novels as it has been quite successful, both in literature and in cinema, as well as being a representative example of this field. This thesis aims at discussing the aspects of political dystopia in Suzanne Collins’ trilogy The Hunger Games such as the totalitarian government, political repression, the government oppressive power and its spectacle power which led to rebellion and war at the end. Moreover, it emphasizes the restricted rules that should be followed during war to secure peaceful life after war. from these aspects, it is concluded that political dystopia occurs in Suzanne Collins’ trilogy The Hunger Games. Ultimately, the current thesis studies some distinguished techniques employed by Collins in the novels of the trilogy such as symbolism, Greek mythology, character analyses, first person narration and allusion.
