Abstract The overall behaviour of reinforced concrete structures is mainly related to the bond characteristics between the reinforcing bars and the surrounding concrete. Therefore, the splices of reinforcing steel bars have to be fully understood. Owing to the limited lengths of the steel bars, splicing of these bars is always required for the long span structures. Recently, High Performance Concrete (HPC) with favorable material characteristics has been commonly utilized in several reinforced concrete structures with wide spans. The concrete type/strength is one of the main principal parameters having a significant influence on the bond behavior. Subsequently, this research is concerned in the enhancement of lab splices of reinforcing steel bars embedded in HPC using new developed techniques. |
