Abstract The present study was conducted to evaluate the buccul lid technique in surgical extraction of deeply impacted lower third molar with criteria of selection based on Pell& Gregory classification and winter’s classification. This study was carried out as a randomized prospective clinical trial, the study sample included 10 patients. The sample was selected conveniently to fulfill a list of inclusion and exclusion criteria. All patients subjected to surgery for removal of the lower third molar by buccal lid technique using piezotome for bone cutting. The selected patients were 5 males (50%) and 5 females (50%) and their age ranged from 25 to 40 with mean (30.70 ± 6.06) The surgical procedure was done under local anesthesia by performing buccal lid with piezotome, Then the lid was removed to expose the surgical field and the impacted tooth to be removed.Finally the lid replaced to its site without need of fixation. Clinical results revealed that reduction of pain, edema and trismuspost-operatively comparing with the conventional method. With no complications in wound healing.And preservation of IAN and lingual nerve in 100% of cases. Radiographic evaluation revealed that non-significant difference in the crestal bone and minimal difference in buccal bone density that measured on CBCT after six months. |
