Abstract

A field experiment was carried out at the Nursery of Ornamental plants, Faculty of Agriculture, Minia University during the two successive growing seasons of 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 to examine the effect of compost (7.5, 10.0 and 12.5 ton/fed.) in the main plot, and stimulant substances treatments (seaweeds extract, amino acids, salicylic acid, ascorbic acid, active yeast, Minia azotein and control) occupied in the sub-plot, and their interactions on vegetative growth characters, flowering characters, corms and corms production, as well as, chemical composition.
All treatments of compost significantly increased all vegetative growth parameters, flowering characters, corms and corms productivity and pigments, as well as, NPK elements %.
In most cases for better growth and flowering parameters, corms and productivity, as well as, chemical composition (pigments and NPK %) were obtained with any one of the six used treatments compared to control, with amino acids treatments resulted the highest values.
The interaction was significant in most cases, to obtain good growth and flowering fertilized plants with 12.5 ton/fed. compost + amino acid, while 12.5 ton/fed. compost + Minia azotein gave the highest values of corms and cormels productivity.
