Although there were no spaceships or planes in the era of Leonardo da Vinci, he came up with the idea of the first drawing of a parachute. This happened when he told one of his pupils one day, ”People will sail through the clouds and look at the world below”. Leonardo da Vinci was considered one of the pioneers who contributed to the idea of flying and parachuting, as found manuscripts with drawings showed the beginning of this idea, which developed over time to reach aero planes of all types and sizes. Flying is the desire of man since ancient times, when humans looked up to this property that Allah Almighty bestowed upon birds, as he created it in a form that enables them to fly wherever and whenever they want, for long distances and times that they may travel from one continent to another during their migration, and over the centuries. Flying has always been a human preoccupation. Therefore, many experiments and attempts were made to identify how birds fly, which prompted them to offer the most valuable thing they possess, which is their live. The attempts and experiences of the first pioneers who contributed to the discovery of flying and the use of parachutes were only in the form of entertainment and adventure, and later, these experiences were developed to form the science and sport of aviation and free jumping with parachutes, and the manufacture of the first plane goes back to ancient Egypt, where the Egyptians made a kite out of papyrus and used it in toys and in various occasions and celebrations. With the increase in man’s passion for flying and his desire to fly high in the sky, some began to wish that a large kite would carry it aloft to fly in the air. On this basis, many scientists and researchers tried to make a huge kite, so that it could carry weights and fly with it. However, these attempts to manufacture what would be a paper glider were not successful, as the characteristics of the paper represented in its tearing and fragility of its composition did not qualify it for that. What Abbas Ibn Firnas, Leonardo Da Vinci, George Kaili and the German brothers ”Lilienthal” and others devised, paved the way for the Wright brothers and those who followed them to this day to reach that most important science in the history of mankind, which has developed the others sciences. Paragliding was the basis that gave birth to the idea of flying and parachuting. 1- Problem of the study: Skydiving tourism is one of the new tourist patterns that spread in the countries of the world, especially after the Second World War, and it had a wide audience and began to be used as a sport represented by a global federation that includes under it many international federations, and local, international and international competitions and festivals are held for it. The problem that the study deal with can be clarified as follows: 1. Although the sport of skydiving attracts many tourists, especially those with high incomes, and its spread in many countries of the world significantly, it has not been effectively applied in Egypt in tourism. 2. Although there are some areas suitable for practicing skydiving in Egypt, these areas are not optimally utilised to activate this sport as a tourist. 3. Activating the sport of skydiving requires a high cost in terms of equipment, tools, aircraft, licences, approvals, accommodations, emergency medical centres and service centres. 2- Importance of the study: The sport of skydiving is one of the most important tourist stations for lovers of excitement and adventure, as this sport can help in revitalising the Egyptian tourism as it is one of the new tourism patterns and help in highlighting the tourist and archaeological attractions. Skydiving can help in improving the country’s tourist image as well as economy through increasing tourism revenues by attracting high-income tourists. Furthermore, skydiving can play a role in: 1. Establishing clubs to train in various types of skydiving. 2. Organising international tournaments. 3. Accommodation of players and working teams for skydiving tourists in hotels and tourist villages. 4. Creating tourism programmes dedicated to parachuting. 5. Jumping over the archaeological and tourist areas and photographing them and adding these pictures to the propaganda about Egypt, which in turn leads to an increase in the number of tourists coming to Egypt. 6. Saving foreign currency because this sport is practiced by high-income tourists. 3- Objectives of the study: The study seeks to achieve the following objectives: 1- Studying the possibility of applying the sport of skydiving in Egypt as a tourist through: A. Availability of the necessary capabilities and equipment for parachuting. B. The presence of trainers at a high level of competence and experience. C. The presence of a medical team at a high level to serve the practitioners of this sport. D. The presence of clubs that provide training on various types of skydiving. 2- Highlighting Egypt’s tourism potential in practicing this tourist pattern, through the use of photographs taken during the jump in advertising for Egypt as a tourist. 4- Hypotheses of the study: The study relies on the following hypotheses: 1. There is a statistically significant relationship between the age variable and the practice of skydiving. 2. There are statistically significant differences between the gender variable and the practice of skydiving. 3. The interest in skydiving tourism in Egypt may leads to diversification of the Egyptian tourism product and increase the tourists’ number.
