Abstract

Faba bean (Vicia faba, L.) belongs to the legume and is considered one of the main legumes that are used as food for humans all over the world, especially in developing countries and may be used as animal feed. Faba seeds are a common food in India, Indonesia, the Philippines, tropical and Asian regions, and Egypt. It is used as a meal for breakfast, especially in the countries of the Middle East, China and Ethiopia. In particular, faba beans are the main breakfast meal for most Egyptian people. It is considered one of the seeds rich in proteins and carbohydrates and has many uses in food due to its high nutritional value, energy and its containment of vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. Faba beans are a vegetarian alternative to obtaining protein in high-protein diets. There are many health benefits when eating a bean meal, such as lowering blood pressure due to the presence of a high percentage of potassium. Eating faba bean meal improves mood because it contains vitamin (B) and also has many benefits such as fighting fatigue, fighting muscle cramps, anemia, improving bone health and antioxidants.
