Abstract The current study investigate the effect of Spirulina platensis and Chlorella vulgaris extracts on male spraque rats administered lead acetate to induce testicular toxicity, thirty two male rats are classified into four groups group I-(control group), group II(lead acetate) , group III-(Lead acetate + Spirulina platensis) , group IV (Lead acetate + chlorella vulgaris) for 8 weeks, our results demonstrated that , lead acetate group decrease in the weight gain , gonadosomatic index and the weight of testes, epididymis, seminal vesicle, prostate. Lead acetate induced testicular oxidative stress that confirmed by increase ACP, SDH, decrease serum testosterone hormone related with elevated FSH, LH level. As well as decreased testicular TAC with elevated TOC, TNF-α, caspase 3, and decrease sperm count and increase sperm malformation. In addition to down regulation of testicular androgen receptor (AR) expression and testicular histopathological detrition. On contrary S. platensis, C. vulgaris ameliorated these alterations caused by lead acetate induced testicular toxicity with the best ameliorated effect for S.platensis was recorded. |
