Abstract Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major global health problem due to its high prevalence, rising incidence (related in part to the aging of the population). COPD is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. It has significant effect on social and economic status (GOLD, 2020). Patients with COPD often require hospitalizations and longer cumulative hospital stay during the course of their disease. This is associated with physical inactivity and. Exercises lead to changes in exertional ventilation, breathing pattern, operating lung volumes and static respiratory muscle for patients with COPD (Mantoani, Rubio, McKinstry, MacNee & Rabinovich, 2016). The study aims to assess the effect of exercise package on outcomes of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Kafer El-sheikh Chest Hospital. The current study recommended the following: - Exercise training should be start for patient with COPD on admission. Exercise was implemented according to status of patient. - Booklet containing necessary information about COPD and its management should be available and easily used in Arabic language. |
