Abstract

Summary
In this study we focused on the relation between ocular allergy and corneal topographic changes.
Allergic eye diseases especially vernal keratocojunctivis VKC can cause many topographic changes and have strong relation with keratoconus.
Many cases of AC suffering from chronic itching, hyperemia, foreign body sensation and photophobia that can lead to weakness of cornea and can lead to keratoconus.
Children between 5 to 20 years more affected with chronic allergic conjunctivitis than adults and males more than females.
Complications can cause by allergic conjunctivitis as corneal plaques, ulcers, decreased visual acuity and keratoconus especially those with long standing allergic conjunctivitis.
Persons with chronic allergic conjunctivitis should avoid itching, avoid facing hot and dust, wearing sunglasses and make cold fomentation many times per day.
This study investigates 102 eyes with chronic allergic conjunctivitis by vidiokertography (Pentacam) and compred by matched age and sex normal eyes.
This study appears how important to investigate cases with long standing allergic conjunctivitis with Pentacam as they more risky to corneal diseases especially keratoconus.
