Abstract

Typhoid fever is estimated to affect 13.5–26.9 million people worldwide each year, according to an estimate. The emergence of various drug-resistant genotypes of typhoid fever has aggravated the problem. Newer and more improved antibiotics, along with earlier and accurate diagnosis, would be required for treatment. As a result, there is a critical need to develop sensitive and specific assays for the quick separation and identification of Salmonella serovars that cause human enteric fever.
Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease that is found around the world, particularly in the Arab countries. Brucellosis was listed as one of the top ten zoonoses in regards of effect on public health and the economy of disadvantaged communities, as well as one of the top five illnesses responsible for livestock loss around the world.
