Abstract Neutropenia is the presence of an absolute neutrophil count (ANC) of less than 3 x103/µL for term infants to 1 week of age, less than 1 x103/µL in infants and children 1 week to 2 years, and less than 1.5 x103/µL after 2 years of age. The consequences of neutropenia depend primarily on the severity of neutropenia. Severe chronic neutropenia is considered when ANC is less than 0.5 x103/µL or less than 1 x103/µL with associated severe or recurrent infections and persists for more than three months. Due to the rarity of SCN, its epidemiology, clinical manifestations, and prognosis have not yet been fully understood.
