Abstract LSG is safe and effective stand-alone bariatric procedure with increasing popularity worldwide. SLR effectively reduces rate of staple line bleeding after LSG however, it has no clear benefit regarding lowering the risk of postoperative leakage. Staple line oversewing and invagination have no statistically significant differences in their outcome however, postoperative vomiting may be more frequent and prolonged with staple line invagination but this is not statistically significant. Staple line buttressing although more expensive and not widely available specially in developing countries, it seems to be more time saving, less technically demanding, more safe with lower incidence of postoperative stricture and may be more effective in reducing the rate of perioperative bleeding after LSG compared with staple line oversewing and invagination. |
