Abstract ErbB receptors belong to the family of receptor tyrosine kinases. The ErbB family is composed of four members: ErbB1 (also known as EGFR), ErbB2, ErbB3 and ErbB4. Different ErbB4 isoforms are present and can be classified according to their ability to be cleaved by membrane metalloproteases (JMa) or not (JMb), whether they can bind to PI3K and E3 ubiquitin ligase (cyt1) or not (cyt2), thus forming four isoforms: JMa-cyt1, JMa-cyt2, JMb-cyt1 and JMb-cyt2 that differ from each other both structurally and functionally. |
