Abstract

his research aims to investigate the impact of organizational culture (OC) on
organizational performance (OP) through the moderator effect of total quality management
(TQM) in the Egyptian hotels. This study uses both quantitative and qualitative methods to
achieve the objectives. A total of 416 questionnaires were distributed to general managers,
executive managers, HR managers, and quality managers in 104 four, five star hotels in Sharm
Elsheikh city. All questionnaires returned are 296, and Reponses rate is 72%. Semi-structured
interviews findings with 40 of HR managers and quality managers of the same hotels were
conducted. Three main data analytical techniques were employed: exploratory factor analysis
(EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modelling (SEM) by AMOS
V23. The results of data analytical showed that OC has a positive direct effect on hotel FP, has
a positive indirect effect on FP through the moderator effect of TQM; and has a positive direct
effect on TQM. TQM has a positive direct effect on hotel financial performance. The findings
of this study make an original contribution to the academic and practical knowledge of TQM.
It is the first exploratory study to have investigated the influence of OC types on FP through
the moderator TQM practices in Egyptian hotels. Besides presenting some recommendations
for Egyptian hotels, the research offers recommendations for further research in this are.
