Abstract

Abstract
The air traffic control tower (ATCT) of Suhaj airport is one of ten airport towers of the same category, Category One (CAT1), in Egypt’s airports. The electromagnetic radiation (EMR) emitted from RF sources have been measured and then compared with international standards as ICNIRP, IEEE and FCC with Egyptian protocol. The Egyptian protocol has proved to be inapplicable to this research, but it has applied to mobile networks with a frequency of 900 MHz. The exposure to electromagnetic radiation leads to direct and indirect effects.
The body absorbs the most pronounced biological effect from RF and microwaves radiation is heating tissues as energy from the fields, or thermal changes in the body, protracted exposure to robust RF fields may raise the body temperature, producing symptoms similar to those of physical activity.
The exposure to electromagnetic radiation causes potential adverse effects on workers who have pacemakers, metallic implants or other medical devices.
Three quantities that are power density, electric and magnetic fields were detected by EXTECH RF EMF strength meter, model 480836. However, both the incident power density S and SAR have been calculated mathematically.
