Abstract As art is a reflection of its own period, so its function differentiates according to the society and the period, either expressing reality or imagination, either the purposes of art are to serve a certain rank of people or a reflection of simple people; it must be emerged from the feelings of the artist. In ancient Egypt, the art had various forms and different kinds such as the art of painting and carving, the art of sculpture and architecture art. There are different of materials which were used in ancient Egypt for making the different artistic works of ancient Egyptians such as stone, ivory, in addition to metal and wood material. The art of wood working is the origin of all Fine and Applied Arts in the Egyptian civilization which reflected the genius of the ancient Egyptian artist. Before the ancient Egyptians use mud brick and stones, they were using wood material because of its flexibility and easy carving which enabled the Egyptian artist to achieve his believes and artistic targets which left its evidence in the areas and sites of the old periods. This research is dedicated to discuss the wooden works during the Middle Kingdom which is very important period in the history of Ancient Egypt. This period included both the 11 th and 12 th Dynasties. It was famous for the power of the kings and the promotion of all kinds of the art especially the art of making coffins.
