Biliary tract complications after liver transplantation show mortality of up to 5%, Aim of the Work: This study aims to list the causes of biliary complications post living donor liver transplantation and find the recent ways of management for such complications. Patients and Methods: This study was carried out at Liver Transplantation unit at Ain Shams University specialized Hospital and included 132 Recipients of living donor liver transplantation. Results: The main finding in this study was that the significant relation between vascular complications especially hepatic artery thrombosis and the incidence of biliary complications at the liver transplantation recipient. Conclusion: In patients undergoing living donor liver transplantation, biliary anastomosis continues to be the Achilles heel of LDLT. Apart from surgical technique, which includes correct choice of type of reconstruction technique of ductal anastomoses, better imaging of the biliary tree and safe isolation of the graft hepatic duct, serial follow up and screening of vascular complications and early detection and management could help reduce biliary complications in the recipient. |
