Abstract The space solar cell considers the main source of energy for spacecraft operation. The solar cell always threatened by space radiation where the radiation can penetrate its structure and degrade its performance. This performance will affect dramatically on the satellite mission’s lifetime. Prediction the space solar cell performance is very important for satellite design. This Prediction could be estimated by exposing the solar cell to different fluences of radiation. High power Pulsed laser beam utilized successfully to simulate the effects of space radiation on spacecraft electronic components. This study investigates the impact of pulsed laser irradiation on the Si solar cell. In this work, mono-crystalline silicon solar cells were exposed to pulsed laser beam with two different wavelengths (1064nm, 532nm) at different locations on the solar cell, in order to know the best damaging exposure conditions. The electrical characterization of the solar cell is determined before and after laser irradiation by electronic circuit. PC1D software is used for physical characterization analysis to elaborate the degradation of solar cell performance. Finally, the variation of electrical and physical performance is determined as a function of pulsed laser fluence. |
