Abstract Introduction: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a psychiatric disorder associated with various psychological, motor and personal impairment. Adult ADHD is underestimated compared to children ADHD despite being of deleterious social effects. The aim of the work: This study aimed to 1. To detect the rate of adult ADHD among patients with non-psychotic mood disorders. 2.To investigate the relationship between ADHD symptoms and clinical correlates of patients with non-psychotic mood disorders. 3.To detect whether ADHD plays any role in the prognosis of mood disorders cases. Subjects and methods: the current study included 101 patients diagnosed with non-psychotic mood disorders according to DSM IV. All included patients were subjected to Structured Clinical Interview for DSM IV (SCID I) scale, Conner’s Adult ADHD Rating Scale (CAARS) and Designed Questionnaire to detect different relevant clinical correlates. Results: Patients in ADHD group showed significantly low seeking of medical advice, high rate of non-functionality and greater risk of accidents and legal problems. Conclusion: ADHD possess a great burden to affected patients’ social functionality ad overall society integrity. |
