Abstract Synthesis of three different ligands derived from 2-amino-4-phenyl thiazole with acetylacetone (HL1), dimethylphthalate (L2) and methylsalicylate (HL3). The three ligands, HL1, L2 and HL3, were reacted with Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Ag(I) metal ions to synthsize their corresponding complexes. from the study, HL1 and HL3 were rearranged to enol form due to the keto-enol tautomerism, where the enol forms are more dominant. The structures of HL1, L2 and HL3 ligands and the newly synthesized complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Visible, 1H-NMR, ESR and Mass spectral data, in addition to thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), magnetic and molar conductance measurements. Some of the metal complexes were tested in vitro against breast cancer (MCF-7) for HL1, L2 ligands and human colon carcinoma cells (HCT-116) for HL3 ligand. For antimicrobial activities, HL1, L2 and HL3 ligands and their metal complexes were evaluated. |
