Abstract Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is considered the ninth most commonly occurring cancer in men and the 14th most commonly occurring cancer in women. There were over 400,000 new cases in 2018 worldwide, and represents about 2– 3% of all cancers and about 85–93% of malignant tumors of the kidney. The aim of the current study was to prospectively compare ORN and OPN for mangement of organ confined renal masses in urology department Menofia university. Our study included 48 patients; with mean age 56.6±13.2. Majority of cases were males 32 (66.7%), while females represented 16 (33.3%). They were divided into two equal groups; group 1 included 24 patients and was treated by PN, and group 2 included 24 patients and was treated by RN. Most of tumors were polar 28 cases (58.3%) and mid zonal in 20 cases (41.6%) with mean size of 4.2±1.4 for PN and mean size of 5.8±1.3 for RN. There was statistically significant difference as regard tumour size. Regarding surgical incision we used traditional lumbar incision in 43 patients (89.5%) and chevron incision in 5 patients of radical nephrectomy (10.6%). Regarding partial nephrectomy we used hot ischemia alone in 16 patients (66.7%) and we used both types of hot and cold ischemia together in 8 patients (33.3%) with mean time of ischemia 13.2±4.1.we used different technique included simple |
