Abstract Abstract Objectives: To evaluate the success rate and audiological results of pediatric tympanoplasty Methods: Metanalysis study of articles involving of pediatric patients who underwent myringoplasty between the years 1995 to 2019, in Medline, Cochrane database. Anatomical and functional success were evaluated also ABG improvement. The influence of age on tympanic membrane closure were examined, publication bias was assessed and pooling of estimates were expressed. Our study consisted of 31 studies done on 2546 patients, with a mean age 10 years, DerSimonian-laird random effects and Forest plots were used for analysis. Results:. The anatomical success and the functional were 87% and 77% respectively. With the increase of age by 1 year the increase in functional success and anatomical success was 1% and 0.1% respectively also the ABG improvement around 0.2648 db. Conclusion: Pediatric myringoplasty is associated with high rate of success, with a high rate of hearing improvement. Age under 7 is associated with less success. |
