Abstract Sino nasal and masses are common findings in ENT outpatient department. The incidence being 1-4% of population. Neoplasms of the sinuses and nasal cavity account for 0.2-0.8% of all carcinomas. Prevalence rate of nasal polyp is about 2%. They may be congenital, inflammatory, neoplastic, non-neoplastic or traumatic in origin. Inflammatory masses include polyps which are usually allergic in origin and the commonest nasal masses. Most of the patient present with complaint of nasal obstruction. The main aim of this study was to observe a much of higher percentage of unilateral sinus pathology. Comprehensive evaluation of patient age, sex, presenting symptoms, nasal endoscopic examination and CT or MRI findings help in the diagnosis of unilateral sinus disease with finding the same result in patient who had endoscopic sinus surgery performed in ENT department of Tanta University Hospital. This retrospective randomized controlled study was carried out at the department of otorhinolaryngology, Tanta university hospitals from April 2019 to December 2020. 100 Adult and pediatric patients were included in this study, with age varying group, who are suffering from nasal obstruction, Epistaxis, proptosis, headache and space occupying lesions in one side of nose including inflammatory, benign and malignant lesions. All of those patients were suffering unilateral nasal lesions. Inflammatory disease was found in 67 patients, benign tumor was found in 27 patients and malignant tumor in 8 patient’s .Age of the patients was insignificantly different among the three groups. Sex was insignificantly different among the three groups. |
