Abstract Proper development of dendrites is important for connectivity and functional neuronal network. By studying development of class IV dendritic arborization neurons in Drosophila melanogaster it was found that Stathmin, conserved microtubule destabilizing protein, is crucial for C4da proper morphogenesis in the posterior segment of larvae. Knock-out of Stai gene cause degeneration of the neurons in the posterior segments of the larvae and the dendritic phenotype was rescued completely with D-staiB2, partially with h-stmn2, and no rescue at all with D-staiA1. |
