Abstract

Summary Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness worldwide. So early diagnosis and treatment are essential to save sight and to prevent an attack in the fellow eye.PACG is associated with the closure of the anterior chamber angle of the eye and is known to have a greater propensity of bilateral blindness, which lead to a huge burden to families and the society. There is multiple types of mechanisms that cause PACG like PIC and pupillary block. PIC is refers to the situation in which the anterior chamber mostly has a normal depth but the iris is plane, iris root is short and anteriorly inserted on the surface of the ciliary body and with forward positioned ciliary processes sustain the convexity of the peripheral iris, causing it to be in contact with the trabecular meshwork. Multiple modalities used to diagnose the narrowing or closure of the angle as gonioscopy examination, UBM, AS-OCT and scheimuflug camera. UBM is a high resolution ultrasound objective technique that provides cross-sectional images in a very cost effective manner and help in detection of retroiridal lesions which cannot be assessed by other imaging techniques. UBM technology uses ultrasound frequencies in the 35-100 MHz range, which allows noninvasive in vivo imaging of structural details of the anterior ocular segment as well as quantitative measurements of the anterior segment in a semi-automated way
