Abstract

This is the first study on the effect of heavy metals on ALP activity
and COX-1 mRNA gene expression of haffara seabream (R. haffara) in
Red Sea. The current comparative field study was performed between
highly metal-polluted and less metal-polluted areas samples at northern
of Suez Gulf in Egypt during winter and summer seasons; to evaluate
the impact of heavy metal pollution on Cytochrome c oxidase (COX-1)
mRNA expression and alkaline phosphatase enzymatic activity in Red
Sea haffara seabream (Rhabdosargus haffara) liver tissues, in addition,
to deduce the impact of heavy metals contamination on the enzymes
alkaline phosphatase and urease in surficial sediments of the Gulf.
