Abstract

The research broaches the subject of “Applied arts implemented on the paintings of the Arab school in Iraq, Egypt and Syria an Archaeological – Artistic study ’’. The thesis is composed of six chapters in addition to the introduction. It is to highlight the research objective, reasons for its selection, its importance, the previous studies, the research difficulties, and the research methodology, where the study depended on the archaeological and the artistic Methods.
The first chapter includes the definition of the Islamic manuscript, the sources included in the manuscripts, manufacturing the Arab manuscript, the types of Arabic manuscripts, The Painting in manuscripts, the reasons for painting manuscripts, what is meant by the school in painting?, Arabic School’s Definition in the Islamic Painting, the names attributed to the Arab school, the characteristics of the Arab school, the artistic centers of the Arab school in addition to the most important sources of Islamic painting.
The second chapter deals with paintings of metal artifacts such as ewers, chandeliers, basins, trays, candlesticks, incense burners, weapons (Swords, Spears, bows, and arrows, Gears, Helmets, Pins), and Jewelry.
The third chapter includes paintings of textiles, men clothes as Turban, Veil, Qulunswa, litham, the buttons, al jubbah, al-Qibaa, taylasan, the pants and Women’s clothes including Al-Bakhnuq, Burqa, The crown, Al-khimar, Turbans, The gang(Al-essaba), The mask, Qulunswa, Niqab, Al-Izar, Al Daraa, Al-Serwal, T-shirt, Robes(Jilbab), Robe(Thawb), Men’s footwear and Women’s footwear in addition to paintings of curtains.
The fourth chapter comes to deal with the paintings of ceramic artifacts such as vases, cups, dishes, pots, bottles, and paintings of glass masterpieces such as lanterns and others.
Summary in English
The fifth chapter included paintings of wooden artifacts of furniture such as tables, chairs, throne chairs, beds, Quran chairs, pulpits, library, and baby’s bed.
The sixth chapter included the Floral, Geometrical, Living creatures in the paintings of the manuscripts of the Arabic School.
Finally, a list of major sources, Arabic manuscripts preserved in Arabic and foreign Libraries, Arabic and foreign references, articles, and periodicals in which the
researcher depended on them in preparing this research, then a list of plates and figures arranged according to its presentation in the research, and then a catalog of plates and figures.
