Abstract
SUMMARY This prospective study was conducted on 20 patients presented with early breast cancer at the Surgical Oncology Unit, General Surgery Department, Tanta University Hospitals. The results of this work showed that: The majority of cases were above 40 years old. There was family history for breast cancer in only 4 cases (20%) (mother or aunt) while there was no family history in 16 cases (80%).Eleven cases have other associated diseases included DM, HTN, hypothyroidism, and bronchial asthma while 9 cases with no other diseases. We found that the commonest tumor location was the upper outer quadrant (UOQ) while the least common site was the lower outer quadrant (LOQ). The preoperative mammography showed that 14 cases (70%) were with well-defined border mass with malignant character while 6 cases were of ill-defined border mass (30%). Microcalcification was presented in 4 cases (20%) while 16 cases (80%) showed no calcification, BIRADS Scoring: Eleven cases (55%) were category 3, Seven cases (35%) were category 4 (Four cases were 4b, two cases were 4c, one case was 4a, and Two cases (10%) were category 2.
