The study aims at identifying the nature of uses of the media workers in the Iraqi embassies for the new media and its achieved gratifications. The study analyzes the uses of (20) Media offices in (20) Iraqi embassies, which are well-known for their diplomatic activity and run verified Facebook pages. The study also surveys (140) media workers in (92) Iraqi embassies. The present study is a descriptive one, in that the analytical and field survey methods are used. The researcher uses the content analysis method to analyze the data. Content analysis survey is used in the analytical and descriptive aspects of the study, while a questionnaire is used for the field survey. As for the theoretical approach, the study applies the theory of uses and gratifications. A questionnaire is applied to a sample of (140) individuals who represent the media workers in the Iraqi embassies abroad. The questionnaire is applied using the comprehensive inventory method for all the workers whom the researcher could connect with through the communication channels of the embassies. Needless to say, cooperation played a great role in the success of the mission. The objectives of the study are as follows: The main objective of the study is to identify the nature of uses of media workers in the Iraqi embassies of the Facebook page he/she assigned to manage and its gratifications through monitoring and analyzing the material published by the embassies in question, and through surveying the media workers regarding the use of the new media applications and their gratifications. The study aims at the following: 1- identify the nature of uses of new media technologies and social media sites by the media workers in the Iraqi embassies. 2- Determine the nature of gratifications achieved from employing the new media in the media work in the Iraqi embassies. 3- Recognize the skills of media workers in the Iraqi embassies and their evaluation to the reflection of that use on fulfilling the media function of the Iraqi diplomacy. 4- Determine the nature of the common content in the uses of the media workers for the new media and its applications. 5- Assess the concrete use of new media techniques by the media workers in the Iraqi embassies in diplomatic work. 6- Identify the reality of media work, in general, in the Iraqi embassies. 7- Determine the practices used by the media workers in the Iraqi embassies to apply the new media and its’ mechanisms. 8- Identify the problems encountered by the media workers in the Iraqi embassies in using the new media technologies. 9- develop media working mechanisms to improve the uses of the media workers in the Iraqi embassies of the new media and to overcome the obstacles which hinder the media work in the diplomatic framework. 10- Provide a description for the nature of the gratifications achieved from the use of the new media by the media workers in the Iraqi embassies and assess chances of development in the light of the great changes at the global, political, and media system level.
