Abstract Timely reperfusion of the infarct-related coronary artery using percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is the optimum ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treatment. Yet, despite opening the affected epica, rdial coronary artery, myocardial perfusion may sometimes not be restored, even resulting in no-reflow. (1)(2)The no-reflow phenomenon is a serious complication and an independent risk factor for worse clinical adverse outcome. No-reflow is a multifactorial and complex phenomenon that causes perfusion deficits in the microvasculature. (3) No reflow phenomenon can be defined as a state of myocardial hypoperfusion due to microvascular obstruction in spite of patent epicardial coronary vessels. (4). |
