Abstract COVID-19 epidemic is spreading worldwide and draining a lot of medical resources. There’s a desperate need for fast and reliable tool for diagnosis or even suspicion of the infection. Plain CT Chest represents a great solution for the current dilemma in the shadow of PCR kits rarity worldwide and the time spent to get its results. CT Chest has a very high sensitivity with acceptable positive predictive value enough to be a reliable method for early detection of COVID-19 infection to allow early isolation and quarantine. RSNA classification and CORADS classification are reliable and useful tools of reporting CT studies regarding suspicion of COVID-19 infection with CORADS classification showing better suspicion results. Ground glass opacities are the main CT findings with their specific distribution related to this particular disease as bilateral, multi-lobar, subpleural distribution. Consolidation opacities are the second most common findings which mostly are presented with ground glass opacities or alone and become diffuse with severe cases. Other CT findings presented with low incidence so can’t be reliable alone without GGO/Consolidation opacities. |
