المستخلص The tourism is one of the most important sources of income for countries, Therefore, all countries seek to attract the largest possible number of tourists and increase its share of tourist demand. Thus, studying tourism demand is an important topic in order to identify , the factors and determinants that affect the tourism activity for a particular destination and increase its tourism demand . Economic variables, especially the exchange rate, play a major role in determining the volume of tourist demand due to the linkage of tourism activity with foreign currency. On2 November2016 , the Central Bank of Egypt liberalized the exchange rate, in order to correct the foreign exchange policy, which led to clear changes in the mechanisms of demand and supply for economic activities in general and for tourism in particular. This study aims to explore the relationship between tourism demand and the exchange rate and analyze the consequences of liberalizing the Egyptian pound exchange rate, and its impact on the volume of tourist demand. The methodology of this study was divided into a theoretical part in which previous theories and studies were examined, and a field study where a questionnaire was designed and addressed to managers in Egyptian tourism companies category (A) in Greater Cairo. The questionnaire assesses their perception regarding the impact of the liberalization of the exchange rate of the Egyptian pound on tourism demand The results of the study showed that the exchange rate is one of the most important tools of the state’s economic policy, and a milestone in attracting tourists. The study also recommended the possibility of exploiting the currency difference in promoting the Egyptian tourism product and attracting new tourist markets. |
