Abstract
SUMMARY
he aim of our study was to evaluate serum level of inhibin B in patients with functional and obstructive azoospermia and its ability to predict sperm retrieval in patients with non-obstructive azoospermia.
This was a comparative study included 90 married males with azoospermia 45 patients with functional azoospermia and 45 patients with obstructive azoospermia, enrolled from Andrology outpatient clinic at Beni-Suef University hospital and El-kasr Al-Aini Hospital
90 married males with azoospermia 45 patients with functional azoospermia and 45 patients with obstructive azoospermia after institutional approval and informed consent. The mean age were 31.19 ± 5.06., the mean BMI were 22.55 ± 1.98, there were 57 (63.3%) Non smoker Patients, 29 (32.2%) Smoker Patients and 4 (4.4%) Ex-smoker Patients .
Our Primary outcome was to detect serum level of inhibin b in functional and obstructive azoospermia, while the Secondary outcome was to predict sperm retrieval in functional azoospermia according to serum level of inhibin b.
We found that there was highly statistically significant difference found between Functional azoospermia and Obstructive azoospermia regarding Infertility duration, FSH, LH¸ Free testosterone, E2, Left testis (mL) and Right testis (mL)
Regarding inhibin B, we found that there was highly statistically significant difference found between Functional azoospermia and Obstructive azoospermia. and no statistically significant difference between inhibin b with Special Habits, Pathology result and Sperm retrieval.
