Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the stresses transmitted to implant supported fixed partial denture using platform switching technique. In this study an epoxy resin cast was duplicated from a readymade acrylic cast. where the implant body (fixture)(4.7 mm in platform diameter) was fixed in the place of first premolar and first molar. The abutments were divided into two groups according to its platform diameter as follows: 1.group A (matching platform)(C1): •Titanium abutments 4.7mm platform diameter (matching platform diameter). 2. group B (platform switching) (C2): Titanium abutments 3.5mm platform diameter (platform switched). The cast around each implant body was prepared to receive 4 strain gauges from the mesial, distal, buccal, and palatal surfaces. The strain gauges were fixed in place and were connected to a four channeled strain meter for each implant. In order to measure a wider range of stresses each fixed partial denture was subjected to static mechanical loads of 100N and 200N from a universal testing machine. The fracture resistance of the fixed partial denture was measured by applying static load using a universal testing machine till failure and the values were recorded and compared. The data were collected, tabulated and statistically analyzed. |
